What are distance counseling and coaching like?

Working from distance is common for most life coaches. It allows for maximum efficiency of time, because the call takes place at your convenience, wherever you are located. The same content that is covered in traditional in-person counseling or coaching is covered  via a remote connection, on FaceTime, Skype or over the phone. For many people, these methods have shown to have the same effectiveness as in-person meetings.

Maybe you are wondering whether distance counseling or coaching is for you. Here are some things to think about when considering distance counseling or coaching.

1. Insurance does not cover distance counseling or coaching. You will need to pay for the services in advance.

2. When working by telephone, it is important that you are able to participate fully, and without distractions. Finding a private and quiet place to talk (just as you would if you were coming to my office) is key to getting the most out of your session.

  1. Dear Melanie,

I was looking over your website bio, and I was very impressed with your credentials and treatment methods. I’m an Austin local too! My name is Amanda Ray, and I am contacting you on behalf of Doctor Charles F. Butler, MD. Our telemedicine service, VideoMedicine, is in the process of signing several high volume institutional contracts, and we are currently seeking mental health specialists who are interested in the possibility of taking on new clients through our telemedicine platform.

To tell you a bit more about this opportunity:
We are the world’s only 100% free market telemedicine service, so you can set your own rate of pay and availability. Unlike FaceTime and Skype, we exceed the standards put forth by HIPAA with our military grade, double layer encryption of all audio/video/text. Our goal as a company is to increase access to care to those who need it most (families in rural areas, geriatric or bedridden patients, or simply those who would prefer the convenience of tele-therapy as opposed to traditional face-to-face treatment).

If you would like to learn more about our telemedicine service, please visit: http://www.videomedicine.com

If you would like to submit an application, please fill out the registration form through our health professional portal here:

If you are interested and would like to learn more, feel free to contact me in response to this email, or if you would like to speak with someone directly, you can call our operations manager, Jason Ray, at 650-942-8012. We can also arrange to meet with you in person if you would prefer. Thank you for your time! :)

    With the Warmest of Regard,
    -Amanda Ray
